The summer crop of wheat, rice, corn and other grains fell 0.3 percent year-on-year to 123.1 million tons, the first decline in seven years, the National Bureau of Statistics said on July 12. Natural disasters, including a drought in Yunnan and Guizhou provinces in southwestern China, contributed to the decline in output, the bureau said in a statement on its website. The harvest statistics cover 17 major provinces and regions, including Hebei, Shangdong, Yunnan and Gansu, whose total output accounts for over 97 percent of China´s total, it said.
