Poultry integrator Henan Huaying Agricultural Development Co. (002321.SZ) said it plans to build a new feed mill with annual capacity of 180,000 tons in Henan province, in order to meet growing feed demand from its duck flocks. Total investment will be 23.2 million yuan, the company said in a statement to the Shenzhen Stock Exchange. Huaying said it is expected to raise a total of 62 million ducks in its own farms and contract farms by 2011, up from current 33 million birds. Annual feed demand will reach 566,000 tons then, it said, adding that it currently produces 390,000 tons of feed a year in its existing three plants. Huaying reported first-quarter net profit of 8.7 million yuan, up 11.9 percent from a year earlier. The company has said it targets to slaughter 23 million broilers and 45.2 million ducks in 2010, up 289 percent and 42 percent, respectively.
